Mr. Jonathan Reagan
Mr. Jonathan Reagan brings a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years experience to Summit Taekwondo Center. His martial arts career began at the age of 14 after moving to Missouri from Illinois. As a new kid, Mr. Reagan struggled to find a place to fit in. As a result, his mother enrolled him at Moore’s Martial Arts in Lebanon, Missouri. Moore’s Martial Arts became like a second home, and Mr. Moore became a role model and father-figure. He continued to play sports and enjoy other pastimes, but Taekwondo has always been a passion. He received his 1st degree in 1991 and also became an assistant instructor at satellite schools in Ft. Leonard Wood and Marshfield.
Mr. Reagan knows that his experience in Taekwondo has been irreplaceable. He has taken several of the principles he learned during his training and applied it to his life. Taekwondo taught him about commitment. That was never tested more than when he felt inadequate or too busy to continue his training. Mr. Reagan even failed a belt test once, and questioned whether or not to go on. “I was determined to quit,” he said, “but a friend convinced me to stick with it. I did, and if I hadn’t, I would never have received my black belt or helped instruct at the Marshfield school…It gave me confidence and self-discipline which has helped me as I ventured into running my own business and the ability to progress in rank in the Army.”
Mr. Reagan believes in the tenets of Taekwondo and the life skills that martial arts provide. No matter where he was located with the Army, or his experience in school and his personal endeavors, Mr. Reagan has never given up his determination and passion for training. Determined to turn every experience into an opportunity, he competed at the World Taekwondo Championship in England in 1992, and was ranked 2nd in the nation through USTF in 1996. He gratefully shared the honor with Mr. Jeremy Slye, and Mr. Tommy Barker of Kickin’ It Martial Arts.
Mr. Reagan graduated from Lebanon High School in 1992 and attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. It was there where he completed both his undergraduate and graduate degree in Physical Therapy. While studying for his undergraduate degree, Mr. Reagan decided to honor a family tradition and enlist in the United States Military. Mr. Reagan first trained as a medic, then an orthopedic technician. Mr. Reagan has always been prepared for the future. He took on these assignments knowing that they would give him an edge in a competitive job market. Both of these choices proved to be right ones; Mr. Reagan is now a Captain in the US Army Reserves and owns and operates several physical therapy contract companies. Mr. Reagan was married in 2011 and has three children.
